Dr. Mike Gotcher received his B. S. in 1980 from Austin Peay State University, the M. A. in 1983 from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 1990. He teaches advanced courses in communication theory, ethics, organizational communication, and leadership. His primary research interests involve health communication, organizational communication, and mass media effects on adolescents and he has published frequently in refereed journals. He has been awarded a variety of honors including the Hawkins Award for research excellence, the John Franklin Mee Award from the Academy of Management, and the Daniel Rohrer Award from the American Forensic Association. Over the past several years, Dr. Gotcher has been instrumental in procuring funding and assisting in the installtion of the over $1.5 million of digital video equipment dedicated to the broadcast of special events at APSU on Cable Channel 99. He serves as the station manager for Cable Channel 99 which can reach nearly 40,000 homes via Charter Communications cable system. Gotcher is in the process of completing his textbook on leadership based on interviews with many national and regional leaders in our society. He has developed graduate and undergraduate curricula, and serves as the executive director of the Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League. He is active in community and university service, holding membership on the University's tenure and retention committee and chairing the Technology committee.

Ted C. Jones, joined the faculty in 1994 to teach mass communication courses and oversee the installation of the compressed video facility on campus. Dr. Jones received a B. M. E. (Music Education) degree from Florida State, an M. A. from Austin Peay State University, and a doctorate from the University of Alabama. Jones was the original program coordinator of the IITS for the University of Alabama System. The IITS was the first compressed video network in higher education in Alabama. Dr. Jones is a well known area Harpist, plays at many special musical events, and has released a CD of his music. Jones teaches courses in musical theatre and mass communication and is now in post retirement teaching at APSU.

Patricia Ferrier worked as a reporter, feature writer, copy editor and city editor before earning the doctorate at Ohio University. Her primary research interests are privacy as a moral and legal concept and its relationship to the First Amendment; how victims of crime are portrayed in the media; and the role and effects of the media in a community. Before joining the faculty at APSU, she worked for seven years at the University of Southern Indiana as an instructor of journalism and student publications adviser. She earned the bachelor of science degree with a philosophy major and journalism minor from APSU and the master of arts in communication arts from APSU. She has taught classes in editing and page design, beginning, advanced and public affairs reporting, media law, media ethics, covering diversity and victims in the media. Dr. Ferrier is a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, the national journalism honor society, the Student Press Law Center, Society of Professional Journalists, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, Investigative Reporters and Editors and College Media Advisers' law, ethics and diversity committees. She also was elected to the board of directors of the Indiana Collegiate Press Association.

Tracy Nichols is a proud to be educated at Austin Peay State University. She has taught courses in American Theatre, Introduction to Theatre, and Fundamentals of Public Speaking. Ms. Nichols spent four years working for The Principal Financial Group, a fortune 500 insurance and retirement company, where she was selected to participate as a member of the their Advisory Council. The Council's purpose was to enhance communication throughout the healthcare division of the company. She left the world of corporate America to pursue her true passion - teaching. Professor Nichols began teaching online at Austin Peay State University in 2004 and, during the summer 2007, has taught workshops for the Tennessee Arts Commission. Ms. Nichols now joins the faculty in the Department of Communication as a full time professor.

Dr. Parcells taught at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Wabash Valley College , and for twenty years at Eastern Illinois University where he opted for early retirement. He then joined the Department of Communication at APSU as a Professor in 2001. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in corporate communication, public relations, mass media, and Internet technology. In addition to a business career spanning15 years in the broadcast industry in positions ranging from promotions director and program manager to general manager at stations in Denver, Madison, Portland, and Rockford, Parcells has operated his own public relations firm since 1983, owned an Internet access company, and presently operates a Web hosting and Internet service business and a web design firm. He is a member of the Broadcast Education Association, the International Association of Business Communicators, the International Webmasters Association, the National Communication Association, and the Society of Internet Professionals. Dr. Parcells served as a member of the University Grievance committee and now advises the APSU IABC Chapter, and is a member of the University's Graduate and Research Council and chairs its Marketing Committee as well as service on APSU's Institutional Review Board. Parcells is the Executive Vice President of the Nashville International Association of Business Communicators Chapter, and recently moderated a panel discussion on the use of Web sites by broadcast stations at the 2007 Broadcast Education Association Convention in LasVegas. His book, Using the Internet, is due from Mayhaven Publishing soon. Parcells has made many professional presentations and has numerous publications in national, regional, and state scholarly journals.

David Michael von Palko is a Professor of Communication, attorney, and the General Manager of WAPX-FM radio. He came to Austin Peay in 1983 to build the radio station (WAPX-FM) and create the University program in Mass Communication. von Palko was also instrumental in developing the Public Relations program. Prior to joining APSU, von Palko spent more than a decade as a professional radio broadcaster in Arizona, and he has also worked at WSM in Nashville. His background includes experience as a radio personality, news reporter, news anchor and news director. He has more than two dozen First Place broadcast awards for news reporting and audio production to his credit from organizations such as the Associated Press, the National Broadcasting Society and Columbia University. He also earned a First Place award for breaking news coverage while on a 1997 faculty development leave at WSM AM and FM in Nashville. von Palko holds a Bachelor's in Broadcasting from Arizona State University and a Master's in Institutional Public Relations from Northern Arizona University. In 1992, von Palko earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Nashville School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the state of Tennessee. Dr. von Palko was the key figure who brokered the brand new frequency, transmitter, tower, and antenna for APSU's WAPX-FM radio station with efforts beginning in 2003 and only recently finished in 2005 with the complete renovation of transmitter facilities and the relocation of the station's frequency. He might as well be a broadcast consulting engineer in addition to his services as a Tennessee attorney and APSU professor. von Palko teaches a variety of classes at the graduate and undergraduate level. He has also taught in the areas of Audio Production, Public Relations and American Constitutional Law. von Palko has served on the board of Associated Press, and serves as both Chair of the National Advisory Council and Legal Counsel for the National Broadcast Society - Alpha Epsilon Rho.

Jeongsub Lim joined Austin Peay in the fall of 2007. He received his Bachelor of Arts in the German Language & Literature at Seoul National University, South Korea. He started his journalism career as a full-time reporter at Yonhap News Agency, Seoul, South Korea-based national wire service. After four-and-half years of journalistic experience, he pursued an academic career and received his Master of Arts in Journalism at the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia where he also received his Ph.D. His research interests include agenda setting, framing, and news study on the basis of social cognitions. During his doctoral studies, he taught a quantitative research method class at a graduate level. He has published his article in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly and has written a book chapter. Dr. Lim has authored and delivered many convention and conference papers for such professional organizations as the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the International Communication Association.

Dr. Pam Gray joined the APSU faculty in 2005 after teaching for 22 years at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Vincennes University. She earned her Ph. D. from the University of Kentucky in 1999 and she also holds a Master's degree in organizational communication from Western Kentucky University. Dr. Gray has received the Teacher of the Year in 2002 from the Kentucky Communication Association, and was three times voted Advisor of the Year at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Dr. Gray was the manager of the radio station at Kentucky Wesleyan University. Now, she serves as advisor for the APSU PRSSA Chapter, and holds memberships in the Public Relations Society of America, the Broadcast Education Association, and the Kentucky Communication Association, where she is the organization's president. Dr. Gray is the APSU liaison to the Nashville Chapter of the PRSA. At APSU, Gray teaches courses in corporate communication, information specialist, media management, and public relations. Her current research interests involve exploring Native American broadcasting stations in southwest U. S. locations. Dr. Gray is an active member in the BEA and has made several presentations at the organization's national conventions in LasVegas over the past three years.

Kathy Lee received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. . She worked in television news in Lincoln, Nebraska, and also was employed by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) Sports division for numerous events such as the college football games. Kathy's familiarity with video production is evident in her documentary work employing her Apple Final Cut Pro and Avid Express Pro video editing software expertise. She has worked on several documentaries such as the Reflections on the Little Bighorn, which was aired on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). Professor Lee has assisted in the production of many men's and women's baseketball games at APSU for live or rebroadcast on Cable Channel 99. She taught at Plattsburgh State University of New York and now teaches at APSU where she is responsible for special events productions for cable channel 99 and overseeing the video editing and DVD production work of students involved in the student organization of Clean Cut Productions. Professor Lee is active in the Broadcast Education Association where she has participated in several panels during the past three conventions in LasVegas.

John Moseley earned his master's degree from Austin Peay State University. Mr. Moseley is actively involved with sports broadcasting, and the audio and video production of APSU special events. He also plays an active role in the operations of the department's Cable Channel 99. In the early 60s, Moseley became involved in studio recording at a small studio in Nashville, and received Grammy's for his well known, high quality audio production work. Over the years he has engineered recordings in studios around the country. In the late 70s and early 80s, he was responsible for recordings for Warner Brothers Publications and Hal Leonard Publishing. Professor Moseley has been actively involved in establishing and setting up the "state of the art" video technology in APSU's Dunn Center, the NCAA Division I athletic complex. He is often involved in the video production of plays, sports, and other special events. In addition, Moseley serves as an advisor to the National Broadcast Society Alpha Epsilon Rho. and the Broadcast Education Association Chapter at APSU.

Yvonne Prather received her Ph.D. in 1998 from Bowling Green University, and her M. S. and B. S. degrees from Austin Peay State University. She also earned a B. A. degree from Western Kentucky University in broadcasting. Her teaching areas include live television and production, mass communication history, intercultural communication, and minorities in the mass media. Her research interests include newsroom socialization and the impact of mass media on ethnic minorities, women, and the elderly. While a graduate student at Austin Peay, Prather was instrumental in the creation of student broadcasts. She serves on a number of community and university committees, including the College of Arts and Letters Promotion Committee. Dr. Prather holds memberships in several professional media organizations, including her active participation in the Broadcast Education Association where she chairs a paper competition for one of the association's divisions. Dr. Prather is actively preparing and presenting scholarly papers. She ihas presented papers and served on panels at the Broadcast Education Association Convention in LasVegas during the past three years. She is also on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Clarksville. Prather received the 1992 Faculty Development Grant from the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE). During her academic career she received the 1995 William A. Caroline Downes just recently joined the APSU faculty after completing her Masters in Communication Arts at Austin Peay. While working on her master's degree here at the Peay, Caroline served as the graduate assistant in charge of the jumbotrons in the Dunn Center. She has worked on several sports production such as the Trenton Hassell & Chuck Kimmel APSU Hall of Fame Induction Videos. She not only produced numerous basketball games, but also produced Miss Tennessee 2006 and Miss Teen Tennessee 2006. Caroline also organized and produced the Camp Rainbow & Special Olympics Pledge Drive, which included 12 hours of non-stop live programming on Cable 99 and raised $6400 in pledges. Caroline received her bachelor's degree in marketing from Baylor University in Waco, TX. Ms. Downes is an active member of the Broadcast Education Association and has made presentations at the organization's convention in Las Vegas over the past two years.

Stacie Mumpower came to Austin Peay State University with a comprehensive blend of professional training, marketing, human resources management, and higher education experience. She spent four years working as a marketing director and three as a professional trainer, business development manager and vice president of a Human Resources company. She found her passion in education and has been teaching college for eight years. Mumpower earned her B.A. and M.A. in Communication from the University of Texas at El Paso. She taught public speaking, business communication and interpersonal communication in Texas and has been teaching at APSU for more than three years where she is responsible for coordinating the public speaking program. During the past two years, she has revised the online public speaking course and developed a new hybrid public speaking course.
